Overview

SPX-1009 is a small molecule inhibitor of Quiescin Sulfhydryl Oxidase 1 (QSOX1), an enzyme implicated in cancer growth, invasion, and metastasis. It was initially developed by Sapphire Biotech and is now being advanced by AXIM Biotechnologies. SPX-1009 has demonstrated tenfold greater potency than its parent compound SBI-183 in suppressing tumor cell invasion and metastasis *in vitro*, including activity against breast, kidney, pancreas, and melanoma tumor cells. Both oral and intravenous formulations are under preclinical investigation to determine optimal dosing routes. The primary indication for SPX-1009 is the treatment of cancer with a focus on blocking metastasis.
