Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**SPYVLP01 + aluminum hydroxide** is a combination vaccine candidate targeting human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). The primary component, **SPYVLP01**, is a virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine that employs SpyBiotech’s Hepatitis B VLP platform with protein 'superglue' technology, designed to enhance immunogenicity through stable antigen binding[3][5]. Aluminum hydroxide serves as an adjuvant, boosting the immune response to the contained antigens[8]. SPYVLP01 expresses selected HCMV antigens (including gB and possibly ppUL83/IE1 proteins) to trigger both antibody and T-cell responses to prevent or reduce HCMV infection. Developed by SpyBiotech and tested in healthy adults, no approved HCMV vaccine is currently available[3].
