Overview

SQZ-PBMC-HPV is an investigational autologous cell therapy developed using the Cell Squeeze platform by SQZ Biotechnologies. It consists of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) collected from the patient and loaded with immunogenic epitopes of human papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 E6 and E7 oncoproteins. The process uses microfluidic squeezing technology to introduce these antigens into PBMCs, generating enhanced antigen presenting cells (eAPCs). These eAPCs are designed to stimulate a robust CD8+ T cell immune response against HPV16+ tumor cells, offering potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic activity. The therapy is being evaluated for advanced or metastatic solid tumors that are positive for HPV16, including cervical, head and neck, and anal cancers. Early clinical studies have shown favorable safety profiles and evidence of immune activation in patients previously refractory to checkpoint inhibitors[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
