Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**SR-01** is a Seraxis investigational implantable cell-replacement combination product for insulin-dependent diabetes, principally type 1 diabetes. It comprises laboratory-grown, insulin-producing pancreatic islet cell clusters generated using Seraxis's proprietary human stem-cell line and manufacturing process, implanted within the retrievable SeraGraft encapsulation device. The device is intended to protect the transplanted cells from immune attack while permitting nutrient, glucose, hormone, and oxygen exchange, with the goal of restoring physiologic insulin production without systemic immunosuppression. Public Seraxis materials described SR-01 as a preclinical lead program; more recent company communications have emphasized the successor candidate SR-02.
