SR-02 is an allogeneic cell therapy consisting of pancreatic endocrine cell clusters derived from a proprietary human stem cell line. Developed by Seraxis, it is designed as a replacement therapy for patients with Type 1 diabetes and insulin-requiring Type 2 diabetes. The therapy involves the implantation of these clusters into the omentum to restore endogenous insulin production and glycemic stability. In its current clinical application, SR-02 is administered alongside systemic immunosuppression to prevent immune rejection of the allogeneic cells. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for adults with unstable Type 1 diabetes who experience severe recurrent hypoglycemia.
