SR-0379 is a synthetic functional peptide consisting of 20 amino acids, developed as a multifunctional drug for the treatment of skin ulcers. It was derived from the AG30/5C peptide to improve metabolic stability and manufacturing cost. SR-0379 promotes wound healing by inducing angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels), stimulating fibroblast proliferation, and enhancing granulation tissue formation. Its mechanism involves activation of the PI3 kinase-Akt-mTOR pathway via integrin-mediated interactions, leading to increased endothelial cell and fibroblast activity. Additionally, SR-0379 exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria (including drug-resistant strains) and fungi by disrupting microbial membranes. The drug is being developed primarily for chronic skin ulcers such as pressure ulcers and diabetic leg ulcers, with Phase III clinical trials ongoing in Japan[1][2][3][6].
