SR-878

SR-878 is a first-in-class monoclonal antibody developed by SciRhom that targets the inactive Rhomboid 2 protein (iRhom2, also known as RHBDF2). iRhom2 is a crucial regulator of the enzyme TACE/ADAM17, which acts as a master switch for several pro-inflammatory and disease-driving signaling pathways. By inhibiting iRhom2, SR-878 blocks TACE activity in immune cells and thereby simultaneously suppresses multiple established inflammatory pathways—including TNF-alpha and interleukin 6 receptor (IL-6R) signaling—that are individually targeted by current therapies for autoimmune diseases. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that SR-878 provides superior efficacy compared to standard-of-care drugs in models of rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. The drug is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for safety and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers, with future plans to expand into patient populations with autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, lupus nephritis, blood protein disorders, inflammation-related conditions, and weight gain associated with inflammation[1][3][4][5][6][7][8][9].
