Overview

SR13668 is an orally active indole-3-carbinol (I3C) analogue that inhibits the Akt signaling pathway. It works by blocking growth factor-stimulated Akt phosphorylation rather than targeting the ATP substrate binding site. The compound was designed to mimic the unique anticancer mechanisms of dietary indole-3-carbinol while optimizing its pharmacological properties. SR13668 has demonstrated potent anticancer activity against various cancers in preclinical studies and has shown promise as a cancer chemopreventive agent. The compound is highly hydrophobic, which initially limited its oral bioavailability, but formulation studies have improved its absorption profile.
