Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SR7826 is a potent, selective, and orally active small molecule inhibitor of LIM kinase 1 (LIMK1) with an IC50 of 43 nM. Developed by the Scripps Research Institute, it belongs to a class of bis-aryl urea derivatives. SR7826 exhibits high selectivity for LIMK1 over related kinases such as ROCK1, ROCK2, and JNK, although it also inhibits serine/threonine kinase 16 (STK16). In preclinical models, SR7826 has been shown to suppress cofilin phosphorylation, reduce smooth muscle contraction in human prostate and bladder tissues, and prevent dendritic spine loss in animal models of Alzheimer's disease. It is widely utilized as a research tool to investigate cytoskeletal dynamics, cancer cell migration, and neurodegenerative pathways.
