SRD-003 (Sardocor)

SRD-003 is a preclinical small molecule drug candidate developed by Sardocor for the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Cardiomyopathy (DMD-CM). It functions as a modulator of the Sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 2a (SERCA2a) enzyme, which plays a critical role in cardiac calcium cycling. In patients with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, impaired calcium handling in cardiac myocytes contributes to progressive myocardial dysfunction and heart failure. SRD-003 is designed to enhance or restore SERCA2a activity, thereby improving the sequestration of calcium into the sarcoplasmic reticulum during diastole and enhancing overall cardiac contractility and function.
