SRK-439 is a novel, preclinical, investigational monoclonal antibody that functions as a highly selective myostatin inhibitor. It binds with high affinity to the pro- and latent forms of myostatin (GDF8), but does not bind to closely related TGFβ family members such as GDF11 or Activin A. This selectivity is designed to avoid off-target effects associated with inhibition of other growth factors. SRK-439 is being developed by Scholar Rock for the treatment of cardiometabolic disorders, particularly obesity. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that SRK-439 can preserve lean muscle mass and improve fat mass loss during weight loss interventions, including in combination with GLP-1 receptor agonists. The drug has also shown potential to prevent fat mass regain after withdrawal from GLP-1 RA therapy[1][3][5][6][9].
