Overview

SRSD216 is a novel double-stranded small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic developed by Sirius Therapeutics for the management of hyperlipoproteinemia(a), characterized by elevated levels of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. The drug specifically targets and modulates the LPA gene, leading to decreased hepatic apolipoprotein(a) [Apo(a)] production and reduced circulating Lp(a) levels. Elevated Lp(a) is an independent risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), and current therapies have only modest effects on Lp(a). Preclinical studies with SRSD216 demonstrated near-complete reduction in Lp(a) over six months after a single subcutaneous dose, with no significant safety concerns observed. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials following regulatory approvals in China and the United States[2][5][6].
