SRX-1177

SRX-1177 is a novel radiolabeled peptide therapeutic designed to target malignant melanoma. It selectively binds to melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R), which is overexpressed in approximately 80% of melanoma tumors. After administration, the drug delivers targeted radiation directly to cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissue. This approach enables both imaging and therapy (theranostics), allowing for patient selection via imaging before therapeutic dosing. SRX-1177 was initially developed at The University of New Mexico and is being advanced by SolaranRx, which received Orphan Drug designation from the FDA for its use in stage IIB-IV malignant melanoma[2][3][4][5][8].
