SRx-502 is an investigational cell therapy developed by Sernova Corp for the treatment of hypothyroidism, particularly in patients who have undergone total thyroidectomy. The therapy involves the transplantation of functional thyroid tissue or stem cell-derived thyroid cells into Sernova's proprietary Cell Pouch System, an implantable medical device designed to create a vascularized environment for therapeutic cells. By providing a source of functional thyroid cells, SRx-502 aims to restore the endogenous, regulated production of thyroid hormones, including thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
