SRX246

SRX246 is a small-molecule, orally bioavailable, centrally active and highly selective vasopressin V1a receptor antagonist. It was developed by Azevan Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of affective and anger disorders, including intermittent explosive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and symptoms related to Huntington’s disease. SRX246 acts by blocking the vasopressin V1a receptor in the brain, thereby inhibiting the effects of arginine vasopressin on neural circuits involved in aggression, fear, depression, anxiety and irritability. The drug crosses the blood-brain barrier and has demonstrated good safety and tolerability in phase I clinical trials as well as efficacy signals in animal models of mood disorders[1][2][5][6][7].
