Overview

SRX251 is a selective, orally active small molecule antagonist of the vasopressin V1A receptor (AVPR1A), developed by Azevan Pharmaceuticals. It was primarily investigated for the treatment of aggression and related behavioral disorders, with additional development for dysmenorrhea that has since been discontinued. The drug acts centrally in the nervous system to block vasopressin-mediated signaling implicated in aggressive behavior. Preclinical studies demonstrated that SRX251 reduces offensive aggression without affecting general motor activity or sexual motivation. As of January 2024, its highest development phase is preclinical for aggression[1][3][4][7].
