Overview

SSH2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of the Slingshot2 (SSH2) serine phosphatase. SSH2 is a member of the Slingshot family involved in actin reorganization. Research indicates that knockdown of SSH2 specifically induces apoptosis (via caspase 3/7 activation) and G1 cell cycle arrest in human carcinoma cell lines lacking the Birt-Hogg-Dubé (BHD) tumor suppressor gene (folliculin/FLCN). This synthetic lethal relationship suggests that SSH2 inhibition could be a targeted therapeutic strategy for BHD-associated renal cell carcinoma and thyroid carcinoma.
