Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SSL2200 (also known as INT-262) is an engineered endolysin developed by iNtRON Biotechnology using its proprietary itLysin® platform. It is specifically designed for the treatment of bovine mastitis, a common and costly inflammatory condition in dairy cattle typically caused by bacterial infections. Endolysins are bacteriophage-derived enzymes that target and degrade the peptidoglycan layer of the bacterial cell wall, leading to rapid osmotic lysis and death of the target bacteria. SSL2200 is engineered to eliminate the specific causative pathogens associated with mastitis, offering a potential alternative or adjunct to traditional antibiotic therapies, particularly in the context of rising antimicrobial resistance in veterinary medicine.
