Overview
SSS39 is a long-acting erythropoietin-stimulating agent (ESA) developed by 3SBio. It is a recombinant human erythropoietin-Fc fusion protein (rhEPO-Fc) designed to stimulate erythropoiesis by binding to and activating the erythropoietin receptor. By fusing erythropoietin (EPO) with the Fc region of human immunoglobulin G (IgG), the drug's half-life is significantly extended compared to conventional recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO). This modification is intended to reduce the frequency of administration, potentially allowing for once-every-two-weeks or once-monthly dosing. SSS39 is primarily being developed for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including both dialysis and non-dialysis patients.
