Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SSS67 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Shenyang Sunshine Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of 3SBio) that targets **myostatin** (also known as growth differentiation factor 8, or GDF-8). Myostatin is a member of the TGF-β superfamily that acts as a potent negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. By binding to and neutralizing myostatin, SSS67 aims to increase skeletal muscle mass and strength, providing a therapeutic approach for **sarcopenia**. Furthermore, because increased muscle mass enhances basal metabolic rate and improves glucose disposal, the drug is being investigated for the treatment of **obesity**. Its potential to improve bone mineral density through mechanical loading and shared signaling pathways also makes it a candidate for **osteoporosis**. SSS67 is currently undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary effects on body composition.
