Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ST-001 (nanoFenretinide) is a proprietary nanoparticle formulation of the synthetic retinoid fenretinide, developed by SciTech Development, Inc. using its SciTech Drug Delivery Platform (SDP). The drug consists of fenretinide combined with specific phospholipids in an aqueous nano-suspension designed for intravenous infusion. This delivery system aims to improve the bioavailability and therapeutic index of fenretinide, which has historically been limited by poor solubility and high toxicity in oral forms. ST-001 is currently in clinical development for the treatment of relapsed or refractory T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL), including peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), for which it has received FDA Orphan Drug Designation. Its mechanism of action involves the induction of apoptosis in malignant cells through the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), ceramide, and ganglioside GD3.
