Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ST-001 is a preclinical-stage therapeutic platform developed by SonoTarg Limited that utilizes focused ultrasound and microbubble technology for the targeted delivery of low-dose chemotherapy and sonodynamic therapy. The platform consists of modified microbubbles with a lipid shell containing chemotherapy drugs and a gas core filled with oxygen. Upon exposure to focused ultrasound at the tumor site, the microbubbles burst, releasing the drug payload and oxygen locally. This mechanism is designed to enhance intratumoral drug penetration and efficacy while minimizing systemic toxicity. ST-001 is primarily being investigated for metastatic pancreatic cancer and other difficult-to-treat solid tumors, including prostate and breast cancers, and is being explored in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors.
