Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ST-003 is a small molecule drug candidate being developed by SteroTherapeutics for the treatment of Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) and associated Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). It targets Galectin-1 (Gal1) and Galectin-2 (Gal2), which are members of a protein family that binds beta-galactoside sugars and mediates various inflammatory and fibrotic processes. By inhibiting these galectins, ST-003 aims to reduce cholangiocyte proliferation and fibrogenesis in the liver and gastrointestinal tract. The drug has received Orphan Drug Designation from the U.S. FDA and is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
