Overview

ST-102 is a bispecific recombinant protein trap developed by SemaThera for the treatment of diabetic eye diseases, particularly diabetic macular oedema and diabetic retinopathy. It functions as an inhibitor of both semaphorin 3A (SEMA3A) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), targeting key pathways involved in pathological angiogenesis and vascular permeability in the retina. By simultaneously blocking these two targets, ST-102 aims to reduce abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage that contribute to vision loss in these conditions. The drug is administered via intravitreal injection and remains in preclinical development[2][3].
