Overview

ST-502 is a gene therapy developed by Sangamo Therapeutics using zinc finger DNA binding protein technology. Its mechanism of action is to inhibit alpha-synuclein and gene transcription, aiming to address the underlying molecular pathology of Parkinson's disease. The therapy is intended to modulate genetic activity in neurons through selective inhibition, and was in preclinical development for Parkinson's disease. Biogen was previously a development partner, but their licensing agreement was terminated as of June 2023[1][3].
