**ST1535** is a preferential antagonist of the A2A adenosine receptor, with moderate antagonistic activity at the A1 adenosine receptor. It is a small molecule designed for oral administration, intended for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. ST1535 competitively antagonizes the A2A adenosine receptor, thereby modulating striatal dopaminergic output. In animal models, it improves motor deficits, antagonizes catalepsy (including haloperidol-induced catalepsy), and potentiates the motor benefit of submaximal doses of L-dopa without worsening common dopaminergic side effects. ST1535 shows long-lasting pharmacodynamic effects and acts primarily via A2A adenosine receptor blockage, with secondary moderate antagonism of A1 adenosine receptor. It does not exhibit appreciable affinity for numerous other receptor types, such as serotonergic, dopaminergic, muscarinic, GABAergic, or others[1][2][3][5].
