Standardized cannabis plant extract (specifically known under the brand name Cannador) is an oral botanical extract containing a standardized ratio of phytocannabinoids, primarily delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) in an approximate 2:1 ratio. Developed in clinical trials supported by the Medical Research Council (MRC) in the UK, this formulation acts as a partial agonist at cannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptors to modulate nociceptive pathways and inflammatory responses. It has been investigated for the management of acute postoperative pain, such as after elective knee arthroplasty or gynecological surgery, as well as muscle spasticity and pain associated with multiple sclerosis.
