Overview
Standardized house dust mite extract is a biologic allergenic product derived from the whole bodies of the common household mites Dermatophagoides farinae and Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus. It is used for both diagnosis (via skin testing) and treatment (immunotherapy) of allergic diseases caused by sensitivity to house dust mites, including allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and asthma. The mechanism of action involves controlled exposure to specific allergens to induce immunological tolerance or desensitization in patients with confirmed IgE-mediated hypersensitivity. This reduces symptoms upon natural exposure to these allergens[1][2][3][4][5][6].
