Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This standardized Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal drug program was developed by the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically within the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of TCM, under the guidance of practitioner Liu Maocai. The intervention is designed to prevent and treat delayed cerebral vasospasm (DCVS), a severe complication of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) that can lead to delayed ischemic brain damage or cerebral infarction. The program is based on established TCM principles for managing hemorrhagic stroke and yin and yang syndromes, utilizing a standardized regimen of herbal drugs to improve postoperative outcomes and reduce mortality and disability in patients undergoing surgery or embolization for intracranial aneurysms.
