Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This topical oral care formulation contains 0.454% weight/weight stannous fluoride (SnF2) and is developed by Haleon primarily for the relief of dentin hypersensitivity. Stannous fluoride works through a dual mechanism: it physically occludes exposed dentinal tubules by forming a robust, metal-rich precipitate layer on the dentin surface, and it provides anti-caries protection by releasing fluoride ions that promote enamel remineralization. By blocking the tubules, the formulation prevents external stimuli such as thermal, chemical, or tactile triggers from reaching the pulp nerves, thereby reducing pain. This specific concentration is a standard therapeutic level used in Haleon's Sensodyne product line and has been clinically validated for efficacy in various populations, including an 8-week study in a Chinese population.
