Overview
Staphage lysate is an immunomodulatory biologic preparation derived from *Staphylococcus aureus* and polyvalent anti-*Staphylococcus* bacteriophage. It is primarily used as an adjunctive treatment for chronic, recurrent staphylococcal infections and hypersensitivity, especially in veterinary medicine for conditions such as idiopathic canine pyoderma. The mechanism of action involves stimulation of T lymphocyte and activation of phagocyte, enhancing both cell-mediated and humoral immune responses. Clinical studies have also explored its use in humans as an adjuvant therapy for hidradenitis suppurativa and chronic recurrent staphylococcal abscess, particularly when conventional therapies have failed[1][4][5][6][8].
