Staphaseptic

Staphaseptic is a topical antiseptic and analgesic gel developed by Tec Laboratories. It contains a combination of benzethonium chloride (a quaternary ammonium antiseptic), lidocaine (a local anesthetic), and essential oils including tea tree and white thyme oil. The product was primarily marketed for the prevention of infection and relief of pain in minor skin injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and burns. Although research indicated bactericidal activity against methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA), the FDA issued a warning letter in 2011 regarding unapproved claims for MRSA prevention. The product was subsequently rebranded as Tecnu First Aid Gel and has since been discontinued.
