Staphguard

Staphguard is an experimental polyclonal antibody therapy program developed by Excelimmune for the prevention or treatment of infections caused by Staphylococcus species, particularly drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It is designed to generate a mixture of human or humanized antibodies that recognize multiple staphylococcal antigens simultaneously, enhancing bacterial clearance and reducing the likelihood of resistance compared with conventional monoclonal or small-molecule antibiotics. The program represents a biologic, immunotherapy-based approach to infectious disease, but available public information suggests it remained at a preclinical or very early clinical stage and has not progressed to marketed status.
