Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Staphylococcus + neisseria bacterial lysate is an immunomodulatory preparation consisting of lysed components from *Staphylococcus* (specifically *Staphylococcus albus*) and *Neisseria* species. It is primarily used as an immunotherapy to prevent recurrent respiratory tract infections and manage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Administered orally, the lysate acts as an immunostimulant by activating innate immune pathways, such as Toll-like receptors (TLRs), which in turn enhances the production of secretory IgA (SIgA) in the respiratory mucosa. Research suggests it may also modulate the gut-airway microbiota axis and influence mitochondrial autophagy-related markers in lung tissues to reduce the frequency and severity of acute exacerbations in stable COPD patients.
