Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Staphylococcus albicans tablets is an investigational oral immunomodulatory biologic composed of inactivated bacterial cells, including *Staphylococcus albus*, *Moraxella catarrhalis* (formerly *Neisseria catarrhalis*), and *Bacillus subtilis*. Developed for the treatment of bronchiectasis, the drug functions as a bacterial vaccine designed to enhance both non-specific and specific immune responses within the respiratory mucosa. By modulating mucosal immunity, it aims to reduce airway mucus secretion and retention, thereby decreasing the frequency of acute exacerbations and the risk of hospitalization. The therapy is currently being evaluated in multicenter clinical trials in China, with Qianfoshan Hospital serving as the lead sponsor and Qilu Pharmaceutical as the manufacturer.
