Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Staphylococcus aureus extract is a biological preparation derived from the *Staphylococcus aureus* bacterium, containing a complex mixture of bacterial antigens, toxins, and cell wall components. It is widely used in immunological research as a potent stimulant to induce the release of cytokines (such as IFN-gamma, TNF-alpha, and various interleukins) and to evaluate the chemotactic and activation profiles of leukocytes, including neutrophils and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). While historically explored for potential anti-tumor properties in murine models, its contemporary application is primarily as a laboratory tool for assessing immune responsiveness in conditions like bronchial asthma and chronic respiratory infections.
