The Staphylococcus aureus type 8 capsular polysaccharide conjugate vaccine is a pharmaceutical drug designed to prevent or treat infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, a common bacterial pathogen. This vaccine utilizes the type 8 capsular polysaccharide (CP8), a key virulence factor of S. aureus, which is conjugated to a carrier protein (such as CRM197 or recombinant Pseudomonas aeruginosa exotoxin A, rEPA) to enhance its immunogenicity. The conjugation process aims to elicit a robust immune response, leading to the production of opsonophagocytic antibodies. These antibodies recognize the CP8 on the bacterial surface and facilitate the clearance of S. aureus by the host's immune system, thereby providing protection against various staphylococcal infections.
