Overview

A lytic mono-bacteriophage preparation developed by the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute in collaboration with Cytophage Technologies. This phage therapy is specifically designed to target and destroy methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus epidermidis* (MRSE). It has been evaluated in a single-patient clinical trial in Canada for a life-threatening, chronic periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) that was resistant to multiple antibiotics. The treatment involves both intravenous and intra-articular administration and is used as an adjunct to standard antibiotic therapy. The bacteriophage works by infecting and killing the target bacteria, offering a therapeutic alternative for difficult-to-treat biofilm-associated infections.
