Overview

STAR-T (Synthetic TCR and Antigen Receptor T-cell) is a proprietary next-generation T-cell therapy platform developed by TCRCure Biotech designed to treat solid tumors. The technology involves engineering T cells to express a synthetic receptor that combines an antibody-derived antigen-binding domain (similar to a CAR) with the constant regions of a T-cell receptor (TCR). This structural design allows the synthetic receptor to integrate into and redirect the endogenous TCR/CD3 complex, utilizing the full natural signaling machinery of the T cell rather than the simplified signaling domains used in conventional CAR-T therapies. By mimicking natural T-cell activation, STAR-T cells aim to achieve higher sensitivity to low-density tumor antigens, improved persistence, and better infiltration into the immunosuppressive microenvironment of solid tumors, while potentially offering a safer profile regarding cytokine release compared to traditional CAR-T approaches.
