Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Stay-Safe Balance** is a lactate-buffered, glucose-containing peritoneal dialysis solution used for the management of end-stage renal disease and acute kidney failure. It facilitates the removal of waste products and excess fluid from the blood via intraperitoneal administration, with glucose acting as the osmotic agent for ultrafiltration and lactate metabolized to bicarbonate to correct metabolic acidosis. Available in various formulations (e.g., 1.5%, 2.3%, 4.25% glucose with 1.25 or 1.75 mmol/L calcium), it contains electrolytes including sodium chloride, calcium chloride dihydrate, magnesium chloride hexahydrate, and sodium (S)-lactate, and is administered in cycles of 2000-3000 mL exchanges 4 times daily for adults, adjusted for children based on body surface area.[1][2][3]
