Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STC008 is a humanized monoclonal antibody designed to target and neutralize Growth Differentiation Factor 15 (GDF15), a stress-induced cytokine that plays a central role in the development of cancer cachexia. Developed by Chengdu Nuoheshengtai Biotechnology, STC008 aims to treat the progressive loss of body mass and appetite seen in advanced cancer patients. GDF15 is often overexpressed in various malignancies and mediates its effects by binding to the GFRAL receptor in the hindbrain, which triggers signaling pathways leading to anorexia and muscle wasting. By blocking the interaction between GDF15 and GFRAL, STC008 is intended to alleviate these symptoms, thereby improving the quality of life and potentially the survival of patients suffering from cancer-associated cachexia.
