STC314 is a small molecule inhibitor of the Stimulator of Interferon Genes (STING) protein, developed by Grand Medical Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Grand Pharmaceutical Group. It is designed to address hyper-inflammatory conditions such as Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and sepsis. The drug works by inhibiting the cGAS-STING signaling pathway, which is a critical component of the innate immune system. Over-activation of this pathway can lead to an uncontrolled release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, often referred to as a 'cytokine storm,' which contributes to lung injury and multi-organ failure in ARDS patients. STC314 is administered via continuous intravenous infusion to maintain therapeutic levels and modulate the immune response in patients with mild to moderate ARDS.
