Overview

STC3141 is a novel investigational small molecule compound, chemically known as β-O-methyl cellobiose sulfate sodium salt (mCBS.Na), developed by Grand Pharma. It acts by neutralizing extracellular histones and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) via charge-charge interactions, thereby reducing organ damage caused by excessive immune responses in severe conditions such as sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)[1][5][6]. Preclinical studies have shown that STC3141 can decrease histone-induced red blood cell and platelet aggregation, improve lung injury outcomes, reduce inflammation, and enhance oxygenation in animal models of ARDS[1][4]. Clinical trials have demonstrated favorable safety and tolerability profiles in patients with sepsis and ARDS[7][8]. The drug is administered intravenously.
