STE-101 is an investigational, off-the-shelf cell therapy developed by StemSight for the treatment of limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD), a rare condition that causes corneal blindness. The product consists of high-purity limbal stem cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and is integrated with functional biomaterials to facilitate delivery and integration. STE-101 works by replacing the depleted or dysfunctional limbal stem cell population, which is essential for the continuous regeneration of the corneal epithelium. By restoring this stem cell niche, the therapy aims to heal the ocular surface and restore visual acuity, particularly in patients with bilateral LSCD who lack suitable donor tissue for traditional transplants. It is currently in the IND-enabling stage of development.
