Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SteadyTeq is a proprietary copolymer-based drug delivery technology developed by MedinCell and licensed to Teva Pharmaceuticals. It serves as the delivery platform for UZEDY (risperidone), an FDA-approved extended-release injectable suspension for the treatment of schizophrenia and the maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder in adults. The technology, internally referred to by MedinCell as BEPO, creates a subcutaneous biodegradable depot that slowly releases risperidone—an atypical antipsychotic—over a period of one or two months. This formulation allows for rapid therapeutic onset (within 6–24 hours) and eliminates the requirement for oral supplementation or loading doses typically associated with long-acting injectables.
