STEAP1 CAR-T is a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the Six-Transmembrane Epithelial Antigen of the Prostate 1 (STEAP1), a cell surface protein highly expressed in prostate cancer cells but with limited expression in normal tissues. The therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that recognizes and binds to STEAP1, triggering T-cell activation and the subsequent destruction of tumor cells. This specific program, often identified by the development code BMS-986353 (or CC-97540), is being developed through a collaboration between the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS). It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
