STEAP1 SIR-T is a preclinical-stage cell therapy being developed by Angeles Therapeutics for the treatment of solid tumors, specifically prostate cancer. It utilizes the company's proprietary Synthetic Immune Receptor (SIR) platform to engineer T cells that specifically target Six-Transmembrane Epithelial Antigen of the Prostate 1 (STEAP1). STEAP1 is a cell surface protein highly expressed in prostate cancer and several other solid tumors, while having limited expression in normal tissues, making it an attractive target for immunotherapy. The SIR-T technology is designed to mimic the natural T-cell receptor (TCR) signaling complex more closely than traditional Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs), potentially providing superior T-cell activation, persistence, and efficacy against solid tumors.
