Overview

SteMos1 (VRC-FLUMOS0122-00-VP) is an investigational quadrivalent universal influenza vaccine candidate developed by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Vaccine Research Center. The vaccine utilizes a self-assembling ferritin nanoparticle platform to display the highly conserved hemagglutinin (HA) stem region antigens. Unlike traditional seasonal vaccines that target the rapidly mutating HA head domain, SteMos1 is designed to elicit broad-spectrum, long-lasting immunity against a wide range of seasonal and potential pandemic influenza strains. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (VRC 329) to assess safety and immunogenicity, both as a standalone formulation and when administered with the ALFQ (Army Liposome Formulation containing saponin QS-21) adjuvant.
