Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STI-0529 (also known as CyCol) is an oral, colon-targeted formulation of cyclosporine developed by Sublimity Therapeutics. It utilizes the proprietary SmPill delivery technology, which consists of minispheres designed to release the active ingredient specifically in the colon. This localized delivery approach aims to treat moderate to severe ulcerative colitis by providing high concentrations of cyclosporine at the site of inflammation while minimizing systemic exposure and the associated toxicities, such as nephrotoxicity and hypertension. Cyclosporine acts as a calcineurin inhibitor, suppressing T-cell activation and the subsequent production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
