Overview

STI-1400 is a fully human neutralizing monoclonal antibody developed by Sorrento Therapeutics for the treatment of COVID-19. Derived from Sorrento's G-MAB library, it specifically targets the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. By binding to this domain, STI-1400 prevents the virus from attaching to the host cell's angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, thereby blocking viral entry and replication. In late 2020, Sorrento partnered with ViralClear (a subsidiary of BioSig Technologies) to evaluate STI-1400 in combination with the oral antiviral merimepodib, aiming for synergistic viral clearance at lower doses. However, following Sorrento's financial restructuring and the evolution of the pandemic, development of this specific antibody candidate appears to have been discontinued.
